Probably very few people will check this space (and in time for this event too). But hey, always increase the outreach right. So as usual...
Class Gathering Saturday!
July 17, 2010
Time: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Location: TCC Suntec city and the vicinity
I know some people can only come in the afternoon or can only come in the evening. So I'm setting the time from afternoon TO evening and then we can just hang out with whoever happens to be at the same time slot (smaller group easier to talk anyway!)
We'll do lunch, and then walk walk a bit to the new structures that have popped up in town (to take photo?) and then dinner (maybe other activities).
Just tell me what time to what time you'll be here so I can wait for you.
Oh, and spread the word of course!
On a side note, let's all go to MAF this year?
new things!

It's plug time again!
JULY 23 - Class movie gathering!$6 only :D Harry potter and the half-blood princeReserve your harry potter date with the class! We're picking a weekday night for the $6 rate (courtesy of ky! yea, you can text him with notes of adulation) NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT Join us after school/work :) Shaw locations are at Lido, Bugis, Lot 1.. (more?) vote for your favorite location, else i'd decide on choa chu kang :P JULY 17/ AUG 5 - US undergrad forum at HCHello, I'm helping to spread this message for Mrs Soo :D The tentative date is this coming friday, but they're proposing a new date of 5 August 09, 4-6pm LT2. ~~ Dear Hwa Chong alumnus, Hello! Hwa Chong’s Education and Career Guidance Unit is holding its US Undergrad Forum on 17 July, 4-6pm. We are inviting all ex-students who have studied in the US or are presently studying at a US college/University to come share their experiences with interested juniors! Some of you were able to make it back last year, while others of you were not able for one reason or another. Do participate in the event if you are able! We are still in the process of amassing alumni support for the event, but the event details are (broadly) as follows: 1. Timing/ Scheduled date: The HCI US Undergrad Forum is scheduled to take place on 17 July, from 4-6pm. 2. Formal Presentations: 3 or 4 representatives. 2 second-year perhaps holding positions in the alumni associations, 1 third-year/ graduated student? Let's try to cover different regions; differences between private, public schools, etc., major differences? Content of presentation(s) - what their juniors should expect, what their individual study experiences have been like, what are some things they should do to help them adjust, etc. Present undergrads would be in a better position to advise on what this list of helpful topics looks like. Will need someone to be coordinating this - do volunteer if you are able! 3. Question-and-answer/ Forum session: Pls do not feel compelled to make a presentation, nor disappointed if you do not get a chance to. We feel the junior-senior interaction is what's crucial in this event so any presentations should offer an overview of what your juniors should expect in the respective US schools. Come with your best advice instead! 4. Informal session (break-out session/ each school's reps has a booth to themselves): Hope also to have a huge pool of first, second year contacts on hand to address students' queries after the formal presentation session. Yes, do invite anyone interested in making contributions to their alumni! ;) Every alumus will be introduced as an important contact that can help address queries of prospective/ interested applicants, and whom they can approach individually (and can possibly get further information from) after the formal presentation and QnA sessions. Pls do direct any concerns over the US Undergrad forum to myself; you may send anyone else whom you know and might be interested to help this email - the event has in the past been pretty much student-initiated!

Winter in Peru 2008
Wednesday, January 07, 2009 / 11:59 AM / boonshan
From Dec 19-30, 4 animals of the zoo (Sheryl, Zhang Rui, Ivan and me), together with Justin (honorary friend) had a mini class gathering in Peru! Even though we suffered from a variety of illnesses ranging from altitude sickness to diarrhea and headaches to a sprained ankle, we had GREAT GREAT fun!! There was the dance fiesta with the locals at Lake Titicaca, the 3-day Inca trail hike to Manchu Picchu, the AA jump shots at every jump-worthy place and of course, the games of bridge at every possible (and not so possible) instance. Thanks guys for such an enjoyable and memorable trip!! :D Us on the boat made of some kind of grass... the dance fiesta! Postcard picture :) one of the many jumpshots!
Way back into love

I wonder if anyone reads the old posts on this class blog like I do... chuckles...
You know, I actually think that it is a Hwa Chongian trait to be openly sentimental. Well, people from RJC seem to need to maintain their image of general cool and aloof-ness for example... And I'm sure every school has their traits too but... let's not go into that cause they are not so important :) (not on this class blog anyway!)
Yanni started our very first blog post, saying that this class blog is a place "where u can post ur personal anecdotes...complaints (to fa xie)...juicy gossip?! "
And at that time, we had many posts from different people... Would you remember? We had Ruyan, Yin How, Sheryl, Timo, Kok Yong (even! although all he does is ask other people to blog, and doesn't post anything substantial himself), Kok Chong, Ivan, Yuan Wei, Boon Shan, Ziwei and me writing on this class property.
And it was exciting to check for something new - either here or on our old yahoo groups with all the lame survey (like 'Who will you date if you were a guy/girl?')
...

Every once in a while, when you look at our old class photos, what are the things that come up? Inane moments, little crushes, singing together, playing basketball, writing cards, heartaches, ponning classes, ice-skating...
...
I bet none of you remember what came up in the second block test! MUAHAHA... I remember actually! No, of course I don't.. Haha, I can't even remember how many block tests there were? Was it two, or was it three?
Right now, as I am in my final year of being in Electrial Engineering (you're a kuku if you still don't know what my major is), waveguides, resonators, laplace's equations, MOSFETs etc. have easily replaced what I learnt in JC (save for Physics).. How many stages in Kreb's cycle? Dunno. Illustrate how acid hydrolysis is done. What on earth is that?
...

Isn't it clear by now that we remember emotions much better than content? Photos help us bring up content, which proceeds to stir up our emotions - and then we go 'Ah...those were the times' like we are weary little old men and women.
Of course we aren't (well, not exactly).. But I do realise how important photos are as we move on at the speed of life, because whatever remains in our heads are just too limited. When I say that though, I do realise that people in 7A generally have good brains, but... still limited I guess? *trepidation*
So I have an IDEA! (I do realise that when I make a post on the class blog, it's to er.. publicise ideas/events.. hey, at least I've got my own style) I want to do a photolog of our next outing. Meaning, take lots of photos to chronicle the event, so that another hmmm... 4 years later (wow we are 4 years away from JC1), this is a little addition to one of those inane moments...
And for just another idea, I have a 'Back to school' outing in mind, just like we were literally still in school in Hwa Chong.
We meet in our classroom (where no doubt, the regular late comers will show up late for class; and some people will ponteng naturally. Haha uhoh, I feel mean to write this but maybe those people who ALWAYS show up for class won't show up for this outing in our class setting, which is kind of ironic).
We'll write what we think of each other now on that timeless fulscap paper that we passed around with our name on it. And we play our usual silly class games that we played during CT session, what was in vogue last time? Zong ji mi ma, whacko, polar bears? And now we have new games that we've seen/played in college... That will form our 'morning classes' waha school is fun!
And then of course we need to have PE! PE PE PE! (The only class that I didn't ponteng in JC) We can have our usual basketball and volleyball or captain's ball... Ooo, bball club people, we can still play I think (even though of course we are missing kok chong, yuan wei, sheryl and DR - diego ryo, remember that initials) There's still yuling, zichao, kokyong (twin towers haha), berne, esther, ruyan and me! By that alone we can do 4 girls versus 3 guys already haha...
And by lunchtime, we shall pretend that we are too atas for school canteen food (probably closed) and eat at coro... But I wonder what shall we do after that? Or maybe it's better to have PE after lunch because we can play for a long time, shower, have tea break then hang out at zen garden singing old songs hahaha and dancing old mass dances (chuckles) Or I know! We should have our class version of war games and play water bombs in the fields/zen garden (reminiscent of yuling's birthday celebration with the water guns)
Ooh I have no many disorganized ideas.. But somehow, I want to land us up staying in zen garden till nightfall and do the pre-O's star gazing and emo sharing session again. Chuckles...
...
Toodles~ Hope you enjoyed reading this. Class bloggers please blog! And if you are in support of such an outing, please use the tagboard :)
